The Newcastle Jets will be on the look out for a new assistant coach this A-League season with former Socceroo Clayton Zane set to depart the club.

Zane, who has coached at the Jets since 2011, will leave in mid-October to take up the role of technical director at Northern NSW Football.
"This club has been a big part of my life for a number of years, I grew up in Newcastle and played my first professional football with the Breakers," Zane said in a statement released by the Jets on Monday.
"I've been fortunate enough to work alongside a number of fantastic people here at the Jets since returning in a coaching capacity and making the decision to leave wasn't an easy one.
"The squad is a good one and I'm confident that [Jets coach] Ernie [Merrick] and the boys will enjoy success this upcoming season."
Jets chief executive officer Lawrie McKinna thanked Zane for his services.
"We're very sad to see Clayton go, but the opportunity to continue his professional development was one that was too good for him to pass up on," McKinna told Jets media.
"Clayton has become synonymous with football in Newcastle since he joined the Jets as a coach in 2011, and his move across to Northern NSW Football is an indication of the strong relationship our two organisations are building.
"He'll be sadly missed and we wish Clayton all the best in his new role at Northern."
The 2019-2020 A-League season kicks off October 11.
NNSWF chief executive officer David Eland welcomed the appointment of Zane, who replaces Michael Browne in the role after he left for India in February.
"Clayton has the required experience, qualifications and credibility to lead NNSWF's player development programs," Eland said in a statement released by NNSWF on Monday.
"We have every confidence that Clayton has the capacity and manner required to engender the support of the many stakeholders who are engaged in the talented player pathway throughout Northern NSW."
