The NSW Government's Great Southern Nights features more than 900 gigs across the state in November.
More than 60 of those concerts will be played in the Hunter, including a performance from Toni Watson, aka Tones and I, at the Civic Theatre on November 24. Watson's song Dance Monkey topped the charts in 30 countries, including the US.
Other highlights of Great Southern Nights include ARIA Award nominees Lime Cordiale at the Shoal Bay Country Club and Sneaky Sound System at the Cambridge Hotel, both on November 6, and the return of indie band Middle Kids to Newcastle City Hall on November 14.
"Newcastle's vibrant live music scene supports countless people, from the musicians themselves through to the backstage crews, venue workers and hospitality staff, all of whom have had their livelihoods threatened by this pandemic," said Newcastle lord mayor Nuatali Nelmes.
"Great Southern Nights is a fantastic initiative that will deliver much-needed funds towards those devastated by the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, while also creating opportunities for local performers to get back on stage in front of live audiences.
"We look forward to playing our part in this state-wide campaign, which will help stimulate the music and entertainment industry and have positive flow-on effects for the visitor economy by providing another incentive for people to travel to and stay in Newcastle during November."
Tickets are on sale from Great Southern Night's website.
