NATIONAL: A search for a passenger who went overboard from a P&O cruise ship off Sydney Heads before dawn has come to an end with police finding a body in the water.

NSW Police were told after 4am that a person from the Pacific Adventure was in the water 10 nautical miles south-southeast from the entrance to the harbour.
"NSW Police Marine Area Command deployed a number of resources to search for the person and are leading the coordination of the water search," they said in a statement.
Cruise operator P&O said a "person overboard alarm" was raised on the ship at 4am.
The vessel, with more than 2,600 guests onboard, was involved in the search.
About 10.30am, officers attached to Police Marine Area Command located the body of a man and it was retrieved.
Police will launch an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
"The family of this guest is being cared for by our onboard team," the spokesperson said.
The Pacific Adventure was due to dock at Sydney's White Bay Terminal cruise terminal early on Monday morning.
