The NHRU is responsible for fostering, promoting, and control rugby in its area – this includes establishing and maintaining rules, regulations, and directions to govern its rugby competitions and the conduct of players, officials, and members of clubs and affiliated bodies.
There are three associations responsible for rugby union in the Newcastle & Hunter regions:
• the senior men’s competitions are administered by the NHRU and currently comprises 19 clubs in 2 Divisions (www.nhru.com.au)
• the women’s competition is administered by Newcastle Women’s Rugby Union (http://hunterwomensrugby.wix.com/hwru)
• the juniors competition is administered by Hunter Junior Rugby Union (www.hjru.com.au) with competitions from U7s through to U18s.
