The competition involves teams of either primary or secondary students creating their own two-page newspaper, which must include news stories, an editorial, photographs, a cartoon and an advertisement based on a theme supplied by the Newcastle Permanent.
Entries are published on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Herald, beginning on April 29.
Up to $8000 in prizes are up for grabs, including a $2000 major prize for the winning entry and $500 for individual writers.
The competition is open to all schools, but places are limited.
