Collins, who is in her first year in senior competition, won selection in the Australian Royal Life Saving team for the camp in Phuket after claiming two silver and two bronze medals at the Royal national titles last month in Canberra.

The now Terrigal Surf Lifesaving member also brought home gold for helping NSW to the overall point score win in the pool. She joined Australian Royal Life Saving Society branch in The Hills in Sydney with Terrigal clubmates a month earlier to be eligible for the titles.

The accomplished swimmer was part of the Australian youth team at the 2012 world rescue championships in Adelaide and is hoping to be part of the senior side for the 2014 titles in September.

The best surf lifesavers will join the top Australian Royal Life Saving competitors in the pool in the national side for the campaign in France.

■ Caves Beach took out the overall club title for the second year in a row in the Hunter-Central Coast Surfboat Series.

Caves, who received a full set of oars valued about $1500 for their win, clinched the open women's and under-23 men's series crowns at the final round of the six-event series at Terrigal on Sunday.

The women were third in round six but took the title by three points from Nobbys, thanks to three wins and a second in previous contests.

The under-23 crew won their final round to finish with three victories and a seven-point edge over next-best Terrigal.

Nobbys were second in the open men's race but easily claimed the overall title ahead of MacMasters Beach 44-34. It follows the crew's 17th place at round three of the Ocean Thunder series last month which left them 15th overall.

Ocean Beach was the other standout club of the series, winning the men's reserves, under 19s and under-23 women's crowns. Avoca won the masters women's and Dixon Park the masters men's.

The winning club in each division received a set of four rowlocks worth about $1200.
