THE storms that lashed the Hunter in April caused more damage to the Ausgrid electricity network than any other weather event, State Parliament has been told.
Resources and Energy minister Anthony Roberts said the estimated repair bill for the Hunter section of the network alone was between $15 million to $20 million.
"Total expenditure on the storm response, including associated network-wide costs such as contact centre support and administration, is still being calculated," Mr Roberts said in Parliament.
More than 100,000 Hunter homes were left without power for days after the storms and flooding.
Networks NSW has warned residents could be forced to wait longer for power to be restored after the next major wild weather event to lash the region, because of staff cuts it will have to make in line with an Australian Energy Regulator pricing decision.
It is challenging in court the regulator's determination, which would otherwise deliver an annual saving of about $165 on household power bills from July.
