The grenade-throwing antics of celebrity chef and paleo enthusiast Pete Evans appear to have rubbed off on his new bride.
Nicola Robinson Evans – a former model turned clean living advocate – has recommended homemade, remineralising toothpaste and suggested her social media followers start referring to Google for dental hygiene tips.
"There's plenty of information about our pearly whites coming to light too!" she posted to Instagram.
"Like the arising knowledge about tooth remineralisation – an Earth Suit function that many teeth enthusiasts once deemed impossible! A simple 'Google' search will lead you all over the show and enlighten you as to how to care for your precious ivories inside and out".
Her comments, extolling the benefits of DIY dental care, come hot on the heels of Evans' latest conversation starters including the toxicity of sunscreen and why veganism is dangerous for those trying to fall pregnant.
Robinson Evans suggests "a remineralising toothpaste recipe that works a treat" created by a blogger who is known only as Katie or her online persona, Wellness Mama, who claims to have reversed a cavity by "addressing mineral levels in the body/saliva and using a natural remineralising toothpaste that provided minerals to the surface of the teeth," she wrote in a blog post.
I actually find the subject of 'teeth,' rather fascinating! There's plenty of information about our pearly whites coming to light too! Like the arising knowledge about tooth remineralisation - an Earth Suit function that many teeth enthusiasts once deemed impossible! A simple 'Google' search will lead you all over the show & enlighten you as to how to care for your precious ivories inside & out! Or you could check out @wellnessmama's website www.wellnessmama.com for a great remineralising Ftoothpaste recipe that works a treat! #teeth #love
The natural remedy consists of calcium powder, baking soda, coconut oil and other minerals Diatomaceous Earth and Xylitol Powder.
Dr David Dunn, the principal dentist at Sydney's Macquarie Street Centre, says there is no scientific basis that homemade, fluoride-free toothpaste can improve or even care for teeth.
"Using baking soda is very abrasive and can do a lot of other damage to your teeth, gums and mouth," he said.
"It's a very fringe thing for people to use, mainly for those who prescribe to the theories of Dr Google, where if you search long enough you can find that fluoride will cause everything from erectile dysfunction to cancer," he said.
Dr Dunn, who also works as an ambassador for Philips Sonicare, has yet to see a patient reverse the damage caused by cavities in his 30-year career.
He suggests using a tooth mousse like Recaldent or a high fluoride toothpaste to prevent tooth demineralisation.
Robinson Evans is a former New Zealand socialite who was once married to millionaire Warriors league club owner Eric Watson. The couple divorced in 2003 before she moved across the Tasman. After arriving in Sydney she reportedly romanced reformed party boy Justin Hemmes.
During a TV interview before meeting Evans, she spoke of her hard partying days, suicide attempts and her three breast augmentation surgeries.
