IF the US government is covering up the reality of UFOs, why doesn’t someone dump the classified documents on Wikileaks? It’s a good argument, and one that can almost convince me there’s nothing up there but stars and space.

There have been some UFO mentions on Wikileaks, but mostly in emails from private security firm Stratfor, whose employees sometimes pass on UFO stories from commercial media outlets. No smoking gun there. Now, however, we have something more interesting, and while the contents will not surprise anyone familiar with UFO lore, a “disclosure” email found in Hillary Clinton’s personal emails is worth a look.
Thanks to Scott Waring’s ufosightingsdaily.com, we learned this week about former NASA astronaut the late Edgar Mitchell’s attempts to convince US President Barack Obama to “take the next steps in extraterrestrial disclosure for the benefit of our country and our planet”.
The email dating from mid-2014 surfaced in a Wikileaks archive of some 30,000 documents found on the private email server that Clinton controversially used while serving as Obama’s Secretary of State.
Mitchell, who signed himself “Apollo 14 astronaut, 6th man on the moon”, was approaching the President through John Podesta, a long-time Clinton confidante and counselor in the Obama office at the time. We can see from the opening that Podesta had already written to Mitchell, who thanked him for the “kind consideration and response” to his previous email.
“As we move into the last half of 2014, the need for extraterrestrial disclosure intensifies,” Mitchell wrote.
The 6th man on the moon continued: “Fifty years ago Battelle, Brookings and RAND studies on UFOs convinced the government to remove knowledge of the extraterrestrial presence from the citizens of our country.
“These organizations advised with their best information. However, today much, if not most, of the extraterrestrial reality they examined is known by our citizens. These organizations' resultant strategies and policies of 50 years ago no longer hold credibility or benefit.
“Five decades of UFO information have dramatically shifted the public awareness of an extraterrestrial presence. And yet, our government is still operating from outdated beliefs and policies. These are detrimental to trust in government transparency, science, religion, and responsible citizenry embracing the next step in our country’s space travel and research.
Three disclosure issues are prominent: 1) planet sustainability via next generation energies such as zero point energy, 2) galactic travel and research undertaken as an advanced species aware of the extraterrestrial presence, not as uninformed explorers who revert to colonialism and destruction and 3) the example of a confident, engaged government who respectfully regards the wisdom and intellect of its citizens as we move into space.”
Now, as I mentioned earlier, none of this will surprise UFO fans. Mitchell, who died on February 4 this year at the age of 85, had long stated that aliens were real and that the US government was engaged in a cover-up. Podesta – chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and President Bill Clinton’s chief of staff for two years – has lent his weight to the cause. Leaving Obama’s office in February 2015 he tweeted: “Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files.”
A second Clinton into the White House might give him another opportunity. Meanwhile, I will keep looking up at night.
