Bianca Dickinson took a picture of her daughter Molly, 2, as they waited for Molly’s older siblings to get off the school bus on Wednesday afternoon.
After positing the photo on her Facebook page, it has racked up thousands of views and being picked up by other media organisations.
“I really can’t believe it,” she said.
Mrs Dickinson said she had never seen a snake that big near her property before.
At first, nothing seemed out of place with the photo of Molly.
But then Mrs Dickinson looked closer.
A two-metre long brown snake is also in the picture.
Mrs Dickinson thought she noticed a bit of bark flying off a nearby tree out the corner of her eye.
“It was really windy,” she said.
“Then I looked up out of the camera to see where the bark went and saw a big mother of a snake.”
Luckily, Molly didn’t even notice the snake behind her.
“I'm surprised it didn't touch her, it was so close,” Mrs Dickinson said.
“I checked her for bite marks still.”
Mrs Dickinson said it was a good reminder that snakes were still active, even when it was not a hot day.
