MINISTER for the Hunter Jodi McKay announced today Stockton Hospital would remain in public hands and operate as a medical centre until 2018.

The Stockton Hospital Welfare Association said it was a victory for the hospital and staff to have their workplace secured into the future.
Minister for Disability Services Peter Primrose agreed to the keep the hospital after talks with families and residents of the Stockton centre.
“The Minister heard first hand the concerns of the families about the future provision of disability
services from the Stockton Centre,” Ms McKay said.
“This is a great outcome for the families of residents at the Stockton Centre.’’
