Lobb and his wife Alison and Levett and dance partner Fadi Hamadeh will take to the floor in a Dancing with the Stars-style challenge at the Modern Jive Charity Ball tomorrow.
There will be 12 dancers on the night and the challengers have become quite competitive in their attempts to perfect the modern jive this week.
Not only have there been extra rehearsals scheduled, but also secret spying on fellow competitors.
‘‘Paul Lobb’s wife has gone and bought him dance shoes so I had to do the same,’’ Levett joked.
The dancers will take to the floor in sparkly costumes and trophies will be awarded to the winners.
At this point it looks like Levett could have the upper hand.
She took heritage dance classes and ballet as a child before hanging up the dance shoes in her early teens.
‘‘I’m very much a beginner,’’ Lobb said. ‘‘It’s been a big learning curve but it’s been fun.’’
The initiative of three Newcastle modern jive clubs, the Modern Jive Charity ball will be held from 7pm tomorrow at Newcastle Panthers.
Newcastle lord mayor John Tate will attend along with a host of Newcastle celebrities in support of the Salvation Army.
Organiser John Welsh, of Jive It Promotions, hopes the event will raise more than $10,000.
