Emerging fashion designer Alexis Withers (Alexis Eclectic) is a young artist receiving a lot of attention on the national stage. Discover the makers limited edition statement pieces which feature her Alexis's illustrations on stunning hand-printed fabrics.
Grace Robbins of Graffitiore creates unique wearable hand-sculpted jewellery made from upcycled graffiti paint from Sydney street art. The discarded pieces of paint are collected from historic street art sites that have been painted over hundreds of times. The pieces are sanded back to reveal the colours of accumulated paint, carved into funky shapes and mounted on sterling silver findings to create one-of-a-kind earrings pendants and brooches.
Artist Simone Madigan of Workshopp is the face of a new Islington-based collective that creates designer homewares. Expect limited edition collections of ceramic platters, planters and utensils, textiles and prints.
There is no better time to sample delicious gelati! Mr Goaty Gelato was founded by former Three Blue Ducks chef Dan Hughes. Think natural delicious creations made on the Central Coast. All flavours are truly created from “garden to gelato”.
Others expected include popular illustrator Carmen Hui, who only attends occasionally; ceramicist Louise Martiensen of @louisemstudio, who only comes every two months; Clay Canoe; and Publisher Textiles, who have a new season range featuring hand screen-printed fabrics by Indigenous makers.
Live music is an integral part of showcasing the creative community to Newcastle. Performers on October 7 will include: Jazz influenced trio The High Andies, singer songwriter Lachlan X Morris Band, the soulful Jake Howden, alternative folk duo As of Sky who feature looping violin, Jye Sharp and folk singer Millie Casey.
All day parking is available at the Civic West carpark for $6:50 or Harbour Park carpark for a flat rate of $5.
The markets are open from 9am to 3pm at Civic Park.
