Moss is expected to be named in the New Zealand squad to contest a two-legged intercontinental playoff against Peru for a place in the World Cup.
The All Whites will host the first leg in Wellington on November 6, with the second leg to be held in South America on November 14.
The Jets are at home to Wellington on November 4 before travelling to Adelaide on November 11.
“We decided to be proactive, knowing we might lose Glen Moss,” coach Ernie Merrick said. “If we lose Glen we want Ivan ready to step straight in. In preparation for that, we have brought him in to train. He is doing some physical testing over the next couple of days and will follow a training program in Sydney. If Glen is called up, he will join us”
Necevski, 37, made his A-League debut for the Jets in a 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory in round 14 of the 2006-07 season. He made three appearances, covering for Ben Kennedy, before joining Sydney FC in 2007. He played 45 games at the Sky Blues in nine years. He spent last season at the Central Coast Mariners, where he made seven appearances.
Meanwhile, Newcastle-born Adelaide defender Taylor could miss up to 12 games after suffering an ankle injury in the 1-all draw with Wellington.
