IF Australia stops live exports then the countries that we export to won’t simply buy frozen meat from Australia, they will buy live exports from other countries with lower standards than Australia. Therefore banning live exports will result in more animals dying dreadful deaths. I consider myself a humane man so I cannot support this.

DEAR Andrew Whitbread-Brown (Short Takes, 9/4), I've been looking for the factual proof of climate change for years without success. Now I have it. It's a mozzie plague in Cardiff Heights.

AFTER the Knights’ win and Browny’s great sledge, I didn't think the smile on my face could get any wider, but Steve Barnett's Short Take (10/4) has me in stitches. I wish I was funny enough to come up with a line like that.

TOP marks to Nathan Brown for finally telling Wayne Bennett some home truths. Nathan is a great coach and Bennett is an ex-great coach. Bennett has the hide to ridicule Nathan when he was the one who ruined the club during his time there as he chased the barrow-loads of Tinkler dollars with no real wish for the Knights. He was just waiting to go back to his beloved Broncos. You will never be forgotten in Newcastle Wayne, but only for your lack of commitment.

JUST read the story on new Aurizon coal wagons arriving at port of Newcastle from China (‘New wagons for a heavy haul’, Newcastle Herald, 10/4). Why could we not build these for Aurizon? Such a shame for our own unemployed, who would be employed and given a chance.

DAVID Shoebridge claims that priests use the seal of confession to avoid reporting child sexual abuse to police. Where is the evidence? If he has such evidence then the seal cannot be very effective. There is no evidence to suggest the removal of the seal will make one kid any safer. That is the only thing that counts; everything else is a diversion.

THANK you Nathan Brown for your comments about super coach Wayne Bennett. Never a truer word spoken. He came here did nothing then left with a lot of money and a new girlfriend. Glad to see Nathan Brown speaking the truth and saying what a lot of people are thinking. He did not overstep the mark as a coach; he is defending his reputation and the Knights.

ALL the workers complaining about being forced to work excessive overtime and worsening conditions can thank themselves for not being unionised and allowing the government to continually weaken union involvement in these matters.
