Supercars chief executive James Warburton, who is stepping down from the role on December 22, said the crowd numbers justified the decision to bring the race to the Hunter.
Champion Jamie Whincup was crowned the winner in the race through Newcastle’s East End. The weather was glorious, Newcastle looked amazing on camera and the event was declared a success by Supercars CEO James Warburton.
The circuit, a 2.6 kilometres long track which features amazing views of the city, Nobbys Beach and Shortland Esplanade, really put drivers to the test.
