
A man was expected to be charged with further offences in court on Wednesday, January 10, following a number of alleged pursuits, a car-jacking and several attempted carjackings in the Lake Macquarie region last month.
Just after 10am on Thursday, December 21, police attempted to stop a car driven by a 22-year-old man at Wallsend.
It will be alleged the car was pursued on a number of occasions on the Hunter Expressway, Newcastle Link Road and M1 before the driver crashed and attempted to carjack a vehicle on the M1.
The driver then allegedly carjacked a different car, was involved in another pursuit with police and attempted to carjack a number of other vehicles.
He was arrested after allegedly ramming a police vehicle and appeared in court last month on a number of charges relating to the incidents.
The man is due to reappear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where it is expected he will be additionally charged with two counts of assault with intent to take motor vehicle, three counts of police pursuit – not stop, also known as Skye’s Law, and possess property stolen outside NSW.
