Power back on after blackout near Bar Beach

The outage was said to have occurred around 6.50am on Wednesday and has affected parts of Newcastle, Bar Beach, Merewether and Cooks Hill.

Ausgrid has estimated that power should be restored by around 9am.

The outage appeared to affect residents on Darby Street between Parkway Avenue and Patrick Street, Bar Beach and Parkway avenues, and Glebe Road between Bruce Street and Darby Street.

Power has since been restored to the area.
