A man has been taken to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in the torso at Lake Macquarie on Tuesday.
A 45-year-old man will face court on Wednesday after he was charged over the alleged stabbing, which took place at Glendale, at about 3pm.
Police said two men, who knew each other, became involved in a physical altercation at a Clare Street unit.
The 45-year-old allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the other man, a 33-year-old, in the torso before leaving the scene.
The 33-year-old was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a stable condition, police said.
The 45-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on January 10.
