‘Frantic’ finish for crew
AFTER a hectic return trip from the Sydney to Hobart, in which they finished 24th, Newcastle yacht Frantic was first home in the Club Marine Pittwater to Paradise race. The TP52 covered 418 nautical miles in one day, 18 hours – four hours quicker than the DK46 Nine Dragons.
Skipper Mick Martin declared it “the best race we’ve ever sailed” as the yacht reached a top speed of 29.8 knots. “We couldn’t have sailed better,” he said.
Boat manager Simon Hunter admitted the toughest part was managing crew fatigue. “It was all about making sure everybody was ready and fresh for their watch,” he said.
