Two-time Newcastle first grade player of the year Mark Dries will return for Hamilton-Wickham’s T20-title hat-trick attempt.
The 36-year-old all-rounder, now based in Sydney, has been confirmed for the Pumas tournament opener against the Tigers (Wallsend) at No.1 Sportsground on Tuesday.
“Great pick up. He’s a one-in-100 player,” Hamwicks captain Josh Trappel said.
In Wednesday evening’s NCC Summer Bash fixture the Sabres (City) demolished the Seagulls (Stockton) by 93 runs at the central Newcastle venue. Dylan Hunter and marquee Ollie Robinson both made half-centuries and put on 152 for the third wicket, helping the Sabres to 4-215 before restricting the Seagulls to 6-122 in reply.
Meanwhile, a devastating mid-innings spell of 4-14 from Wests all-rounder Joseph Price (4-28) couldn’t stop a 33-run last-wicket partnership that saw Victoria (9-141) home in a second straight loss for NSW (138) at the Australian Country Championships in Geraldton on Wednesday.
