
Sea Dragons marquee Scott Rogic has carried his bat and taken two key Lions’ wickets in a comprehensive NCC Summer Bash victory at No.1 Sportsground on Wednesday evening.
Sydney first grader Rogic top scored with 66 and claimed the scalps of Simon Moore (23) and Josh Geary (13) as the Sea Dragons triumphed by 41 runs in the first-round encounter.
The Mosman all-rounder put on 119 for the second wicket with James Rushford (65) after a 51-run opening partnership with Nathan Hudson (32).
The Sea Dragons (University) ended up 3-172 before restricting the Lions (Merewether) to 9-131.
Moore (23) and Geary (13) combined for 36 at the top of the order, but both batsman were back in the pavilion by the eighth over. At one stage the Lions lost 6-23.
Rogic finished with figures of 3-17 from his four overs.
The twilight, midweek phase of the stand-alone T20 competition wraps up in Newcastle on Thursday (5pm) with the Kookaburras meeting the Waratahs.
Back-to-back triple headers follow on February 4 and 11. Finals are scheduled for February 18.
