ADELAIDE and Perth are among Hunter travellers’ top tips for which city will be announced on Monday as Newcastle Airport’s latest destination.
Beaches, sunshine and an eponymous drink are the only hints media sleuths have received about where Newcastle Airport will head to next.
The state’s second-largest airport will confirm its next destination after teasing the announcement last Thursday. In the meantime it has offered cryptic tips to those itching to find out in the meantime.
The hints included beaches and sunshine, a vibrant bar scene and a cocktail named after the destination.
Eager eyes quickly found official-looking Newcastle Airport pages purporting to confirm both Adelaide and Perth at different stages, leaving the curious to wonder which might be the red herring.
As a result those two cities led the guessing, which also threw up Rockhampton, Canberra, Darwin and a maiden international stop as possibilities.
A Newcastle Airport spokeswoman on Sunday declined to comment further on the destination.
