A new residential complex has been granted development application approval in Wickham.
Neufort Wickham, at 12 Railway Lane, comprises 135 apartments – 12 studios, 23 one-bedroom and 100 two-bedroom apartments – and 284 square metres of retail and commercial space.
Developer Blake Organisation is behind the project, which borders Railway Lane and Wickham Park, and the development has been designed by EJE Architecture.
There will be two residential towers connected by a bridge as well as a courtyard at the podium level.
PRD Newcastle & Lake Macquarie will market the development and are seeking expressions of interest. Construction is expected to start next year.
EJE Architecture director Barney Collins said Neufort was designed in line with the new Wickham Master Plan, taking into consideration the heritage of the suburb.
“We are bringing in the warmth and texture of face brickwork to reference the masonry characteristic in the suburb's signature buildings such as the Wickham School building and wool stores,” Mr Collins said.
Meanwhile, a top floor apartment in GWH Build’s Soho Central complex on Maitland Road in Islington is on the market for $695,000.
Rick Gittins of Gittins Property has listed the two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence and said it was the “best two-bedroom apartment in the complex”.

Across the city, Mike Flook of Robinson Property does not expect a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in The Aventine complex in Wolfe Street on The Hill to last long.
It has expansive views and is being marketed for $1.125 million to $1.225 million.

A three-bedroom apartment in the boutique M on Watt, the 2016 redevelopment of a 1932 building, has been listed by PRDnationwide Newcastle & Lake Macquarie with a price guide of $1.1 million to $1.2 million.
