MORISSET trainer Mark Callaghan will look to the NSW Oaks with Itz Georgiaonmymind after the recent purchase from New Zealand easily won the Star Maker 3YO Final at Tamworth.
With Todd McCarthy in the gig, Itz Georgiaonmymind led all the way to win by seven metres on Thursday night. Last Sunday, Callaghan drove the filly to a 17m win in the heats on debut in Australia.
“It’s a good start,” Callaghan said. “She’s a three-year-old filly so if she continues to go OK, we’ll head towards the NSW Oaks, which is only next month at Menangle, so hopefully she holds together. She’s been working really well so I expected her to run well, and she won easily, which is nice.”
Callaghan will be among a host of Hunter trainer/drivers at Menangle on Saturday night. He has Lovin Miss Daisy and Rave Moonraker in a $20,400 MO race and will drive the Michael Osborn-trained Exterminate in the group 3 Australian Pacing Gold MO Final.
She should get a nice run there just off the speed and Rave Moonraker’s drawn well as well, so hopefully they both run well.
It’s not easy to win at Menangle, but they are both working well and hopefully they can run well.
