THE SECOND person to be charged with shooting a man in the face at Hamilton late last year has been refused bail in Newcastle Local Court.
Dion Lee Welsh, 36, of Wallsend, was arrested at a home in Bent Street about 2.25am on Monday and charged with shoot with intent to murder and an outstanding warrant.
Mr Welsh did not apply for bail in court on Monday and the matter was adjourned until April 4.
Joshua Rae, 30, was arrested last month after allegedly leading police on a wild pursuit along the mid-north coast and charged over the December 18 shooting at a unit in Gordon Avenue.
He remains in custody until his next appearance in Port Macquarie Local Court on April 18.
It’s believed an argument broke out between two men inside the unit shortly after 10.30pm, before one of the men trained the gun on the other and shot him in the face.
Detectives say investigations are continuing.
