
UPDATE: Ausgrid crews have restored power to around 2800 customers in parts of Charlestown and Hillsborough after a car hit a pole in Charlestown.
“We are still working to get the final 200 customers back on. Thanks for your patience tonight,” The energy company said in a tweet on Tuesday evening.
EARLIER: There are major traffic delays in Charlestown and parts of other suburbs are blacked out after a car crashed into a power pole on Tuesday afternoon.
Charlestown Road is closed between Hillsborough Road and Griffiths Street and Live Traffic NSW is advising motorists to avoid the area.
Ausgrid says about 3000 homes are without power in Charlestown, Kotara, Hillsborough and Garden Suburb. Emergency crews are working to reconnect power.
