The Northern Districts captain and Tamworth-born wicketkeeper-batsman steered the University team home on the second last ball of the T20 showdown at No.1 Sportsground, chasing down the Pumas total of 8-147 with seven wickets in hand.
“Unbelievable innings from him,” Sea Dragons skipper James Rushford said.
Harriott’s 54-ball knock featured five sixes and two fours. An unbeaten 58-run stand with Matt Gawthrop (19 not out) started at 3-94.
Pumas all-rounder Sam Webber was the best in a beaten Hamwicks side with 76 from 37 balls, figures of 1-28 and a catch.
Newcastle lord mayor Nuatali Nelmes was on hand to present the shield.
In the earlier semis the Sea Dragons (5-108) reeled in the Magpies (8-104) and the Pumas (7-130) restricted the Whips (9-96) in a grand final replay from last season.
