Two residences built over 100 years apart and very different architectural styles may have some differing features but are both considered “prestige” properties in the Newcastle market at the moment.
The homes hit the market through the week and both feature four bedrooms and three bathrooms, offer seaside locations, low-maintenance living, and are considered “lifestyle” residences.
PRDnationwide Newcastle and Lake Macquarie have listed both homes.
One a tri-level terrace in Newcastle East’s tightly held Stevenson Place which is drenched in the city’s history.
The other is in “happening” Buchanan Street, Merewether. It is a new build, designed over two levels to maximise space and offer the latest in home technology.
PRDnationwide’s Mark Kentwell said it was designed by Space Design Architecture to offer high-end living and features fine detailing in glass, concrete and timber elements.
Both properties are for sale through auction. The Buchanan Street residence is being marketed with a price guide of $2 million to $2.2 million. A price guide has not yet been set for the home in Stevenson Place but it is expected to attract buyers in same price bracket as Buchanan Street.
“Buchanan Street is very high detail and it’s just really bespoke. It’s definitely modern and edgy,” Mr Kentwell said.
“In Stevenson Place, you’ve also got a beachside lifestyle but in a heritage overlay beach setting. East End has a cult following, and it’s growing by the day,” Mr Kentwell said.
“There are only around 11 house sales per year there and it’s pretty rare to find a terrace of this significance coming on the market.”
Mr Kentwell sold a home in Newcastle East’s Murray Avenue in February last year for $2 million and said “demand continues, particularly from out of towners” for the East End.
