Newcastle’s Kyron Dryden remains ready to rumble in Sydney on St Patrick’s Day regardless of who he comes up against at the “Fighting Irish” event.
Dryden, who weighed in at 66.7 kilograms on Friday, will meet an unknown opponent from New Zealand at The Star on Saturday as part of the latest Johnny Lewis Fight Series.
The late change to the bill was made following the withdrawal on Thursday of scheduled opponent Ben Saava, who cited an eye injury.
“I have no footage, name or idea of anything,” Dryden said.
“It’s at catch weight of 68. Could be risky, but I’m ready for anyone and believe I’m one of the best in the world so the late change of opponents doesn’t rattle me even a bit.”
Dryden took to social media to express his “devastation” at missing the advertised bout with Saava.
The headline act in Sydney will be Darragh Foley and Steven Wilcox.
Meanwhile, Toronto’s Blake Minto will be the main attraction for Detonation Eleven at Wests City Newcastle next Saturday night (March 24) from 6:30pm.
