Champion jockey Hugh Bowman will make his comeback to racing with four rides at Newcastle on Thursday after passing a mandatory cognitive test on Monday.
Bowman has been out of the saddle since suffering a concussion in a fall from colt Performer late in the Todman Stakes on March 10.
His agent, Bryan Haskins, said on Monday that Bowman was booked to ride two Chris Waller-trained horses in maidens as well as California Turbo in race one and a two-year-old for Peter and Paul Snowden in the last.
“He only wants four rides because he just needs to go around to get back into it,” Haskins said.
Bowman has rides in all five group 1 races at the Golden Slipper meeting at Rosehill on Saturday.
He will partner Winx as she attempts a world record 17th group 1 win in the George Ryder Stakes and will be aboard her Waller-trained stablemate Performer in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.
Bowman also has group 1 rides for Newcastle trainer Kris Lees on Saturday with Le Romain in The Galaxy and Doncaster-bound Prized Icon in the Ranvet Stakes.
Meanwhile, Jason Collett will ride Sugar Bella in the Birthday Card Stakes, Karavali in the Epona Stakes and Admiral Jello in the Manion Cup for Lees at Rosehill.
