An immaculately presented circa 1914 home in Fitzroy Street sold for $760,000 after just one week on the market. It was a three-bedroom home on a 556 square metre corner block with dual access off Waratah Street and also had a freestanding studio.
The previous highest sale for the street, according to Australian Property Monitors data, was $650,000 in 2015.
A home in Moolcha Street, also three bedrooms, lasted just one day on the market before it was sold for its own new street high of $685,000.
Walkom’s Kate Rundle sold both properties and said interest had been strong.
Mayfield’s median sale price for 2017 was $570,000 for 189 sales, improving from $485,000 the previous year for 209 sales, with growth of 17.5 per cent.
Ms Rundle has also sold a home with city and ocean views on Merewether’s Scenic Drive for $1.7 million.
Tammy Hawkins, of McGrath Estate Agents, sold an apartment on the third floor of the 'Eastside' complex in Newcastle’s King Street on the eve of its scheduled auction.
There was a lot of interest for the one-bedroom apartment, located within one block of Newcastle beach. It was marketed with a price guide of $390,000 and was secured by Sydney investors for $406,000.
A three-bedroom residence in Kotara’s Bryson Avenue was bought for $642,000 while in Charlestown a three-bedroom home on a large block in McDonald Crescent sold for $575,000.
Also in Charlestown, a three-bedroom townhouse in Kahibah Road sold for $680,000.
A three-bedroom apartment with two bathrooms and parking for two cars in a harbourside complex in Newcastle’s Wharf Road was secured for $912,000.
In New Lambton, homes in Rudge Street ($660,000), Nelson Street ($811,000) and Victoria Street ($735,000) all sold.
