The Hunter Academy of Sport had a big week of success with numerous athletes gaining selection in state and national representative teams for their respective sports.
Softball Australia announced the 2018 Australian U/17 Boys’ Squad with Hunter Academy of Sport players Joshua Banks and Ben Cashen selected.
The boys will be attending the 2018 International Friendship Series training camp and competition, to be held at Redlands Softball Association in Queensland. The camp will be held from July 6-8 and competition from July 9-13.
Female player Grace Wrixon gained selection in the Australian U/19 Female Development Squad, and will be attending the 2018 International Friendship Series Camp. The squad will attend an international tour to Japan, designed to provide international exposure to up-and-coming players.
In Basketball, Lara Kitchen and Mariah Radburn, and Will Mortimore and Jeremy Kennedy have gained selection in the Basketball NSW 2018 Talented Athlete Program (TAP) camp to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre in May.
The TAP is a single camp-based program that aims to expose selected athletes to the NSW/Australian Style of Play whilst providing educational opportunities for athletes in the field of nutrition, injury prevention and effective rehabilitation exercises.
