Valentine will be without No.1 goalkeeper Scott Carter for at least Sunday’s clash with Lake Macquarie after he dislocated his left shoulder against Maitland.
Carter was hurt coming out to clear a corner in the 74th minute of the 1-1 draw at Cooks Square Park in round four on Saturday.
Club stalwart Perry Budden then kept the Magpies at bay and coach Darren Sills said he would be in goals again against the Roosters.
He said Carter was on his way to hospital when the shoulder went back into place. He continued on and had scans. Sills said it was an injury Carter had suffered multiple times and he was waiting on word about how long he would be out.
The coach said it was a good opportunity for Budden, who had been working hard with new goalkeeping coach Steve Thomas.
Valentine’s Joel Wood was fouled by Alex Read before converting the penalty. Maitland equalised through Andrew Swan before half-time. Sills believed it was a fair result given the chances both sides created.
