FORMER NBN Television station manager Debroah Wright will take the reins at 2NUR in its 40th year, the University of Newcastle has revealed.
Ms Wright will become interim chief executive of the easy listening radio station, which is funded by listener donations and sponsorship from Hunter businesses.
The former NBN chief executive has most recently worked as Nine Entertainment’s director of regional strategy.
“I feel most privileged to lead and manage the [2NUR] business through its next phase of development, with the support of a most experienced and passionate team,” Ms Wright said.
University of Newcastle vice-chancellor Professor Caroline McMillen said Ms Wright was highly skilled and respected.
“These qualities, combined with her extensive knowledge, passion and connections with the region and its community, provide the University of Newcastle with a significant opportunity to shape the station for future success.”
2NURFM began broadcasting in March 1978.
