POLICE are seeking information about threats made against a sex abuse victim who testified at Adelaide Archbishop Philip Wilson’s trial.
Investigations centre around three incidents that allegedly took place over the past year against the man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
NSW Police said there was no suggestion or evidence that Achbishop Wilson, or church officials, were linked to the threats.
Cessnock-born Archbishop Wilson is defending allegations he failed to report historic child sex allegations.
According to media reports, the investigation centres on a series of alleged incidents, the latest of which was a month ago, from people claiming to be “protecting the church”.
They warned of “consequences” unless the victim dropped or withdrew his court statements, police said.
Detective Acting Inspector Jeff Little told the Adelaide Advertiser that “we are not suggesting there is any involvement with (Archbishop) Wilson and that is why it wasn’t mentioned during the trial”.
