A controversial non-call from video referees lead to a 1-0 win to Melbourne Victory at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday. Football Federation Australia have since admitted failure in the VAR technology awarded Melbourne Victory their one and only goal.
Fans took to social media to vent their frustration and to commiserate the loss.
“Seriously! What’s the point of VAR when they don’t rule a goal offside?? Hold your heads up boys well done on a great season Newcastle Jets,” Jennifer Bartlett posted to Facebook following the match.
Despite the defeat, the atmosphere at the stadium on Saturday was electric as fans flooded in to lift their teams.
