The off-contract Gold Coast Titans forward is understood to have met with Knights coach Nathan Brown and head of football Darren Mooney on Wednesday.
He was shown around the club’s facilities at Mayfield yesterday by Kurt Gidley before he and his partner Courtney Thorpe had lunch over-looking the water at Warners Bay with the former Newcastle captain.
Mooney confirmed Wallace had flown to Newcastle for talks when contacted by the Newcastle Herald but refused to discuss the negotiations.
He is the second Maroons Origin forward who has been linked to the club.
Melbourne Storm prop Tim Glasby was in Newcastle last month to have a look around the city with the Knights keen to entice him north.
Another club who was interested in Glasby, Canberra Raiders, are understood to have dropped out of the race, leaving the Knights and the Storm in a two way battle for his services.
Wallace, 26, has played 101 NRL games with the Brisbane Broncos and the Titans, and was recently offered a new four year deal to remain on the Gold Coast reportedly worth almost $2 million.
