
Police charge man after attempted armed hold-up at Gateshead servo
A man will face court after he allegedly attempted to rob a Gateshead service station on Saturday.
Police said the man entered the business just before 5pm and allegedly threatened staff with a knife and demanded cash.
The employee sought safety in a back room and the armed man ran from the scene – no-one was injured.
Lake Macquarie police later arrested the 20-year-old Gateshead man at Windale.
He was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon and breach of bail. He will face Newcastle bail court on Sunday.
