Seven years after their stunning new home at 68 Elsdon Street was built, they are now moving on and have listed the property for sale.
It is set for auction on site on June 30.
“We commissioned Luke from ELK Designs to work with us to create and design a resort-style property,” Lara, director of Yak and Yeti Interior Design, told Domain during the week.
“I presented ELK Designs with a brief that was quite detailed with high expectations.
“We wanted the home to have a strong connection and reflect the beach and its surrounds but not literally.
“We wanted the property to also feel like a private oasis for our family to create the vibe of a luxury resort style living like we were on a full-time vocation, and that it what it has been.”
We wanted the property to also feel like a private oasis for our family to create the vibe of a luxury resort style living like we were on a full-time vocation.
Lara and Kyron bought a single-level home in original condition 10 years ago and lived in it while planning their new luxury residence.
Lara, who also has her Yak and Yeti headquarters at the Elsdon Street property, said they “often pinch ourselves”.
“Sometimes I’m working indoors in the office or I am lucky enough to work outside on the large deck on the lounge or soaking up the sun in the cabana and taking a break for a quick refreshing dip in the pool,” she said.
The home is designed over two levels to maximise natural light and air flow. It has five bedrooms, open plan living and kitchen which extend effortlessly through glass doors to an entertaining deck overlooking the pool.
There is a media room, three bathrooms and a separate double-lock-up garage with gym that has rear-lane access.
There are louvred windows, high ceilings and polished concrete floors.
“The property was to be aesthetically pleasing externally and internally,” Lara said.
“We wanted to create a sense of intrigue and surprise to evoke feelings between mind body and spirit with architectural and design elements as layered overhangs, different substrates to create texture, double height windows that can be viewed as soon as you enter the property or from the mezzanine level which creates a grand light source.”
The finishes and fixtures are high end with Italian designer tiles, a free standing resort-style bath, timber screens and stone benches in the kitchen, which has a walk-in pantry.
Dean Pinter of Century 21 Novocastrian is marketing the property, which has an open inspection scheduled for 10.30am on Saturday.
A price guide is yet to be disclosed.
