Hot on the heels of releasing a new EP titled Calling You, Hunter Valley songstress Lyn Bowtell will play a Newcastle show at Lizotte’s on Sunday, June 17.
She will be supported by Gretta Ziller and Andrew Swift at Lizotte’s.
The six-track EP, made with Shane Nicholson on the Central Coast, marks a distinct departure in musical style from her roots in alternative/pop country, brimming with the singer's soulful, striking vocals and connecting deeply with raw emotion.
The single Calling You was released late in 2017. The EP includes cover of Fields of Gold, the song that got the stars to turn their seats when Bowtell appeared on The Voice.
In 2017 Bowtell won three Golden Guitar awards, appeared on The Voice and was part of Culture Club’s national tour.
This year has been hectic already. She began the year with a big solo show and a packed house for a gig with Kevin Bennett and Felecity Urquhart, her Golden Guitar companions, at one of the biggest rooms in Tamworth.
The trio won Golden Guitars for Alternative Album of the Year and Group or Duo of the Year. They are working on material for a new album.
Bowtell first came to prominence as songwriter and singer for award-winning country pop trio Bella. Since then she has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Secret Songs in 2012 and Heart of Sorrow in 2014.
Bowtell plays Lizotte’s on Sunday, June 17.
Ziller, who will accompany Bowtell, is currently touring with her album, Queen of Boomtown.
