THE Knights have added much-needed strikepower to their backline stocks for next season by signing towering winger Edrick Lee from Cronulla.
Lee will link with the Knights on a three-year-deal from 2019.
He will join another Sharks teammate, Jesse Ramien, in moving north.
Lee, 25, debuted in the NRL for Canberra in 2012 and has played in 83 top-grade games for the Raiders and Cronulla, scoring 42 tries.
This season the 1.96-metre speedster has seven tries to his name from 11 games.
He has a proven a handful playing against Newcastle in the past, scoring six tries in seven games, including one in Cronulla’s 48-10 thrashing of the Knights four weeks ago.
"Edrick is an exciting player with size, height and speed,” Knights football manager Darren Mooney said. “He will be a great addition, not only to our backline but to our playing group.”
The signing of Lee, who plays predominantly on the left wing, casts a cloud over the future of off-contract Ken Sio, who is Newcastle’s top tryscorer this season with eight from 11 games.
