Prominent Australian boat builder, Rivieria, will be debuting the 39 Sports Motor Yacht as a part of their 11-model display on the water in Cockle Bay Marina. The world premiere of this latest model will open proceedings at the Sydney International Boat Show, among other displays from well known boating brands.

Access to the 39 Sports Motor Yacht is through a fixed swim platform, where a barbecue unit is set across the transom.

The boat features an open cockpit for entertaining and water sports and includes a teak table and a lounge set under an awning window, offering an alfresco dining option.

The foredeck will have optional large sunlounges for those who want to soak up the sun.

A stair-ladder on the starboard side of the cockpit connects this space with the extended flybridge where a twin helm-and-companion seat forward faces a helm with comprehensive engine controls and navigation displays behind a raked windscreen. The flybridge also features an L-shape lounge aft of the helm, and sun protection is provided by a folding bimini top.

The interiors feature American white oak timber panelling and cabinetry, for a contemporary look throughout the 39 Sports Motor Yacht.

In the saloon, there is a fully-equipped aft galley on the starboard side, with a dining area opposite, offering 360-degree views. The standard lower helm is forward to port with the lounge opposite.

The lower deck provides sleeping accommodation for five adults in two staterooms, and the master stateroom forward comes with a queen-size walk-around double bed, a wardrobe, overhead lockers and shelving. The bathroom immediately aft includes a vanity, toilet and separate shower stall.

Access to the engine room is via a large hydraulic lifting hatch while a smaller hatch, immediately aft of the saloon door, is available for day-to-day maintenance.

Power for the 39 Sports Motor Yacht comes from twin Volvo Penta D6-IPS600 system with twin diesel engines (2 x 320kW/435hp) and IPS pod-drives and joystick control.

"Our design team and engineers have crafted a new hull and deck design, with raised bulwarks on the side decks and multiple entertainment spaces” concluded Longhurst.

10 other boats in the Riviera range will also be available for viewing including the 6000, 5400 and 4800 Sport Yachts, the blue-water 52 Enclosed and 43 Open Flybridge models, the 575 and 445 SUV models and an offering from Riviera’s other brand, the Belize 54 Daybridge.

The showcase will also include the Sydney Premiere of the Riviera 395 SUV and the long-range 72 Sports Motor Yacht.

The Sydney International Boat Show is where boaties go for the latest in recreational boating. The Show, spread across both halls of the ICC and the marina, will host all kinds of fishing and sports boats, as well as sailing yachts and superyachts. There is also other presentations and activities planned, including fishing classes, guest speakers and a dive expo.

One of Australia's leading boat builders, Maritimo, are bringing their new X60 on a tour of Australia’s east coast.

A stopover in Port Stephens has been locked in, with an appearance in Newcastle also on the cards.

Freshly launched at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the X60 is the first of the X-series models.

“We will be having pop-up or mini boat show displays at marinas all down the east coast and our dealer partners in each location are eager to get the chance to show their prospective buyers through the vessel first hand,” Maritimo’s lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter said.

The X60 has a new efficient shaft driven hull and driveline design, and the boat has been tested at speeds up to 34 knots with 925 hp Scania power, with an option for a 1000 hp Volvo engine. 

The X60's range has been recorded at over 30 knot cruise and consumption rate of under 100L/h per engine at 27 cruise rate.

The X60 includes the EJS joystick system from Twin Disc, which helps with precise marina manoeuvring in tight spaces.

Its variable deadrise hull design with deep-v bow entry offers a soft, dry ride and the weight distribution in the hull design allows for effortless transition to plane.

Another addition to X60 is the extended aft cabin space,  which allows owners to customise their living space, and can be turned into an additional cabin, Beach Club, additional Stateroom, tender garage or euro galley. 

“Its ability to add extra accommodation space that is similar to an additional master cabin in terms of volume, is clearly something special,” Barry-Cotter said. 

Units are already in production, bound for owners in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe, with the first X60 to make its way to Auckland following the boat show season.

In preparation for the Sydney International Boat Show on August 2 the X60 hit the water last month and is visiting seven spots, touring all the way down to Sydney from the Gold Coast.

The X60 will stop in at Southport Yacht Club, as well as hot spots Pittwater, Sydney Harbour, and locations in North Sydney, Eastern Sydney and the CBD.

Hunter enthusiasts will be able to get a glimpse of the X60 in Port Stephens on July 7 at The Anchorage.

For the Newcastle stopover, interested parties will get a look at the latest model at the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club on July 12.

The X60 will then feature at The Sydney International Boat Show as part of Maritimo's showcase, where they will be showing the S70, S51, M51, and will be revealing the X50. 

In an attempt to further reduce drowning rates in the state, the Office of Emergency Management has announced that applications are open for their 2018-2019 Water Safety Fund Community Grants Program. The Office of Emergency Management reported that there was a 12 per cent  drop in drowning deaths over summer 2017-2018 compared with summer 2016-2017. However, this  still means that there were 36 deaths on NSW waterways over that period. In this latest attempt, Water Safety Fund Community Grants are being awarded to applicants whose projects increase water safety in high risk geographical locations, population groups and activities. Applications are now open, and will close at 3pm on July 27, 2018, and can be lodged via the Water Safety Grants Application Portal.

Widely considered the most gruelling round the world yacht race, the revived Golden Globe Race has begun, with competitors sailing out of Les Sables-d'Olonne in France on June 1 to mark the 50th anniversary of the original race, which saw Sir Robin Knox-Johnston's complete the world's first solo non-stop circumnavigation.

The sailors in this year's race will be limited to yachts and equipment available in 1968, meaning they will sail 30,000 nautical miles alone, with no outside assistance for the next nine to 10 months.  Australians Kevin Farebrother and Mark Sinclair will take on this epic journey with 16 other sailors from around the world.
