The hotel is licensed to have live music on the wharf from 6 to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 9pm on Sundays, but it has applied to stretch this to noon to 11pm from Monday to Saturday and noon to 10pm on Sundays.
“Council reminded the venue in April 2018 that it was operating live music outside of the hours it agreed to in 2015, and which are included in its conditions of consent,” a Newcastle City Council spokesperson said.
“We did this after complaints to the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority and directly to us about noise and operating hours on the wharf.
“The owners were informed they would need to seek a modification to the DA if they wish to provide live musical entertainment outside the existing conditions of consent.”
The venue also wants to keep its outdoor dining and entertainment area open until midnight every day, two hours later than it is currently allowed from Sunday to Wednesday.
