Police wish to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries after two girls were approached near Newcastle on Thursday.
The man has been described as having a dark complexion, about 173 centimetres tall, aged in his early 40s, short brown hair with a crewcut style, unshaven, and with a solid build.
At around 12.40pm Thursday, a 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl were walking on Clyde Street, near Girling Street, at Hamilton North, when a white sedan, with black and white number plates, stopped near them.
The passenger, a man who was last seen wearing navy blue jeans and a blue shirt with red, yellow and black spotted colours, waved to the girls and told them to get in the vehicle.
The girls ran away and notified officers from Newcastle City Police District, who commenced an investigation.
Police have urged anyone with information that may assist their inquiries to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
