A small not-for-profit charitable organisation, Charlestown Caring Group has been providing home support services to the community for over 40 years and prides itself on the individual “personal touch” that it provides to the frail aged and people with a disability in our community.
“We receives some government funding for the Commonwealth Home Support Program but the demand is greater than the funding we receive,” a spokesperson said. “Due to our committed team we are now able to provide more support to people in our community by fundraising activities as well as our non- funded private arm on a ‘fee for service’ basis and we also provide NDIS services as well.”
Support services include transports to medical appointments, shopping, small group activities, bus trips, NDIS, cleaning, yard maintenance, dog feeding or walking, one-off tidy ups and much more.
“Being a finalist in various categories every year since 2012 has been a great achievement for a small organisation, and could only be achieved by a team effort,” the spokesperson said.
