The announcement comes just weeks after fashion store Zara was confirmed to be a new tenant at the shopping centre. The Zara store will be located on level two next to Pandora and will be the first to open in the region.
H&M entered the Australian market in 2014. Westfield Kotara will be the 12th site to open in NSW and the third store to open in the Hunter region.
“We identified a significant demand for international fashion retailers like H&M within our centre, so we’re thrilled to be able to deliver this as part of our redevelopment,” Kate Murphy, Westfield Kotara centre experience manager, said.
“Westfield Kotara will be the destination for fashion with H&M, Zara, David Jones and more all in the one location.”
The new H&M store will span 2,700 square metres and will be set over one floor on the Northcott Drive side of the centre at the entry to the new mall. The opening at Westfield Kotara is scheduled for October 4.
“We look forward to continuing our expansion in the Hunter region with the opening of H&M at Westfield Kotara and cannot wait to meet our new customers on opening day” Hans Andersson, Country Manager for H&M Australia, said.
Westfield Kotara is undergoing an estimated $160 million redevelopment. Once completed, the centre will span about 82,000 square metres. The project is currently on track to open in late 2018 and will be anchored by a new Kmart, JB Hi-Fi and 30 new fashion and lifestyle stores.
The redevelopment comes after the unveiling of The Rooftop in 2015, a $55 million outdoor dining and entertainment precinct.
