The two Kiwi internationals were sin-binned, along with Penrith’s Villiame Kikau and Tyrone May, after tempers frayed and punches were exchanged four minutes from full-time.
On Sunday the NRL charged all four players, along with Penrith centre Waqa Blake, with grade-one contrary conduct. If they plead guilty, all will be fined $1100. In the unlikely instance that any try to fight the charges, they face a $1500 sanction if found guilty.
Knights coach Nathan Brown was reluctant to discuss the flare-up, saying he would prefer to focus on his team’s win.
But his Penrith counterpart, Cameron Ciraldo, admitted he was disappointed his players succumbed to frustration.
“That's no excuse to be involved in that,” Ciraldo said.
“I didn't see who started it but we've got to be better than that and keep our cool.”
