Lake Macquarie lodged a complaint with Northern NSW Football on Monday after Papaspiropoulos was allegedly spotted playing for Adamstown in footage of the 6-0 trial win for the Mariners last Tuesday night at Pluim Park, Lisarow.
NNSWF operations manager Alan Nisbet confirmed the complaint was under investigation.
Given the match was a sanctioned trial game, ineligible player rules apply. Adamstown could be fined and Papaspiropoulos suspended if the accusation is proven.
Papaspiropoulos is an under-20s player at the Roosters who made four appearances off the bench in first grade this season. The Herald understands he has recently trained with Adamstown.
Although Adamstown’s season was over in the Northern NSW NPL because they had the last-round bye, Lake Macquarie played the Lambton Jaffas last Saturday to wrap up their campaign.
** Hamilton have boosted their squad for 2019 with Valentine centre-back Reece Pettit.
Pettit, who was captain at wooden spooners Valentine this season, was NNSW NPL rookie of the year in 2016 and spent three years at Phoenix.
He will link with his former Emerging Jets and Youth coach Peter McGuinness at Olympic, who have re-signed 16 of their top 20 squad, including in-demand Jarryd Sutherland.
