A FILM exploring the socio-economic and environmental issues facing an Australian community as it transitions into a post-coal world is being shown in a series of free screenings in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
The crowd-funded film, Our Power, looks at the Latrobe Valley in Victoria, delving into the history of coalmining in the region, the transition of the power industry as it was privatised in the late 1990s, the devastating Hazelwood mine fire of 2014 and explores what the future of the power industry could look like in Australia.
Tickets to the Hunter screenings are free and can be booked online through eventbrite.com.au by searching “Our Power”.
Our Power is being screened on Friday, August 24 from 7pm at Morisset Country Club, Saturday August 25 from 7pm at Muswellbrook Workers Club and Sunday, August 26 at 2pm at The Royal Exchange in Newcastle.
